London, April (Correspondent):B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University in London. Uppal MLA Bandari Lakshma Reddy attended the event as the chief guest and paid rich floral tributes to the statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that Ambedkar’s ideas continue to guide society and that his efforts for equality and justice will remain unforgettable. He added that celebrating Ambedkar Jayanti by Indians across the world is a matter of great pride.He further stated that Ambedkar’s time in London was a crucial phase in his life. He pursued Economics at the London School of Economics and studied Law at Gray’s Inn. He also earned a Doctorate (D.Sc) in Economics.Ambedkar conducted in-depth research on India’s economic conditions under British rule and authored the renowned book “The Problem of the Rupee.” His training as a Barrister in London laid a strong foundation for his future as a distinguished legal expert in India.The MLA noted that exposure to democratic systems and ideals of equality in Europe greatly influenced Ambedkar’s thinking and strengthened his resolve to fight for the rights of the oppressed. His deep understanding of British governance and legal systems later played a vital role in the making of the Indian Constitution, he added.
