
Hyderabad – India clinched the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 title with a commanding 96-run victory over New Zealand in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Batting first after losing the toss, India posted a massive total of 255 for 5 in 20 overs. Sanju Samson led the batting charge with a brilliant 89 runs off 46 balls, while Abhishek Sharma scored 52 and Ishan Kishan added a quick 54 to power India to one of the highest totals in a T20 World Cup final. New Zealand failed to chase the huge target and were bowled out for 159 in 19 overs. Jasprit Bumrah starred with the ball, taking four wickets, while Axar Patel also contributed with three wickets to seal a dominant win for India. With this victory, India lifted its third T20 World Cup title and successfully defended the trophy, becoming the first team in history to retain the T20 World Cup.
